Join the RTÉ lyric fm presenter for entertaining anecdotes and chat, plus the finest music from his popular morning radio show, with everything from Puccini to Morricone to Bacharach.

Fans of Marty Whelan’s much-loved programme on RTÉ lyric fm will know it has an eclectic playlist encompassing classical, opera, popular, film, musicals, jazz and more. Now audiences can enjoy an evening packed with a similar wide range of favourites performed by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and guests under RTÉ CO Principal Guest Conductor Stephen Bell, all presented by the man himself in his own unique style.
Previous concerts in Dublin and Wexford were a huge sell-out success. Now back by popular demand with a new selection, Marty in the Evening is coming to Bord Gáis Energy Theatre for the first time. Early booking advised!
Introducing orchestral music to new audiences since 1948, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra has built a strong connection with the public that saw it voted the World’s Favourite Orchestra in 2015.
It has performed with artists including Luciano Pavarotti, Lang Lang, Marvin Hamlisch, Lalo Schifrin and Sinéad O’Connor, its 90s dance music series with Jenny Greene won an IMRO Outstanding Achievement Award, and its recordings range from Stephen Rennicks’ score to Room to Flicker with Niall Horan.
Recent concerts have included Thin Lizzy Orchestrated, The Delta Blues Project, introduced by Morgan Freeman, and a tribute to David Bowie featuring members of his own band. The orchestra’s connection with audiences, its warm vibrant performing style and its eclectic repertoire makes it the perfect match with Marty Whelan for this concert.
